Walk for CORD 2024!!

Memorial Day - Monday, May 27

9am



Meet us at the West Boat Launch at 9 am.

9 am: Registration begins.

Return your Pledge sheets and give your donations to Sangita Shivakumar at the Registration Desk. 

Volunteers sign up for the specific Food station / cleanup slots in the true Yagna spirit.

9:30am: Invocation

11 am: A quick snack break

11:15am: Games and entertainment followed by lunch.

 

CORD Programs and Activities: Supports rural development in India and at the grassroots level here in Southeast Michigan

· Adolescent Girls Support Groups: Encouraging Self-Confidence in Young Girls

· Village Pre-Schools: Nurturing Children

· Self-Help Groups: Accessing Financial Resources

· Sustainable Income Generation for Women

· Primary Healthcare Services

·        Intergenerational Elder Youth Bonding Program

·        Women to Women Mentorship Programs (addressing access to healthcare, employment, and education)

·        From Crisis to Control

·        Introducing: Desi Men’s Groups

 

Are you coming?  Please keep in mind these Guidelines:

1.      Checks are made payable to Chinmaya Mission Ann Arbor or CMAA. Write CORD 2024 in the memo. You may also donate through the CMAA website: https://www.chinmaya-aa.org/support-us

2.      You must pay the Park permit fee as you enter.

3.      Each sponsor making a pledge should write their own name, and pledge. You should collect the pledge in advance but must keep the pledge sheet until all donations are collected.

4.      Participants are asked to assemble at 9:00 am. While the walk for CORD is for 3 miles, you may choose to walk less or more than 3 miles. No running/ jogging/biking will be allowed. Participants are encouraged to wear hats and sunscreen if it is sunny or bring rain gear if it is rainy. We look forward to all our participants having a great time! Followed by the walk we will have cookies, tea, lemonade and games.  We will have flash mob after lunch.

5.      Remember to recycle the water bottles.  Trash must be properly disposed in the bins with liners only.

6.      Follow the park rules.

Kensington Metro park

4570 Huron River Pkwy, Milford, MI 48380

 

Directions to enter the park and West boat launch shelter ‘O’ (Letter ‘O’’;)

From Troy:  From 275 and 96 intersection Travel West on I 96 and take exit 151 for Kensington Road and follow the signs to enter the park at High Ridge Dr.

From Novi:  Travel West on I 96 and take exit 151 for Kensington Road and follow the signs to enter the park at High Ridge Dr.

From Ann Arbor:  Travel North on US 23. Take I 96 East and take the exit 151 for Kensington Road and follow the signs to enter the park at High Ridge Dr.

From Canton:  Take 275 north and I 96 West and Travel West on I-96.  Take exit 151 for Kensington Road and follow the signs to enter the park at High Ridge Dr.

Once you buy the park permit ($10.00 for a day) follow the signs to West Boat Launch Shelter ‘O’.
